An Apricot Tree in Africa - behind-the-scenes of the South African Jewish community

“An Apricot Tree in Africa” is a behind-the-scenes story of the South African Jewish community, through the eyes of one little girl. Her perceptions and subsequent actions are the story for this intimate novel.

Every life has a story; a story with many “ifs” and many “buts.” The story of Cynthia’s life also has many ifs and buts. Cynthia’s life is a puzzle of relationships, with the centerpiece missing: her relationship with herself.

From the 1950’s in South Africa, to the 1980’s in Israel, Cynthia searches for her own story. She observes human strength and human frailty; misplaced ideals and life’s sometimes cruel coincidences.

Cynthia tells her story with unashamed truth, allowing you to hurt as well as to rejoice with her. You will question her decision and judge her life, while thinking of your own life and seeing how we are all influenced by our childhood relationships, to the extent that they can dictate our future.
