The Coaching for Olim project is a joint initiative of the Jewish Agency and the Israel Coaching Center. The project’s goal is to provide assistance to olim through coaching – in their own language during their first year in Israel.

 What is coaching?

Coaching is a powerful relationship that is intended for people who wish to make major changes in their lives.

The desire to change and the nature of the change are brought by the client. The focus, support and encouragement are brought by the coach. The strength of the process comes from the relationship between coach and client, which is essentially an empowering and goal-oriented partnership.

The basic assumption is that you are an expert on your life and the coaching relationship will provide you with a safe place to ask the real questions, to arrive at answers and to treat your dreams seriously and with courage.

Coaching is not therapy or counseling.

What is a coach?

A professional coach is certified by the Israel Coaching Center (ICC). He has been trained at the School for Coaching and has coaching experience. He is coaching voluntarily as part of the Coaching for Olim project. The coach is committed to maintaining confidentiality with regard to the content of the coaching sessions.

How does it work?

Each oleh will be part of a coaching process as part of this project. He will choose the focus of the coaching (career, family, integration in his new community, etc.) and will fill in a background questionnaire. The process will include 12 weekly one-hour coaching sessions.

When and where?

The time and place of the coaching sessions will be determined together by the coach and the oleh. The coaching can be face-to-face or by telephone.

When does it start?

The start of the project is planned for the beginning of 2011.
