Telfed Eilat Get-Together

Our get-together, held in the WIZO hall in Eilat in December 2007, was a great success  with a wonderful atmosphere, despite the fact that many people were not able to come. Everybody enjoyed it.

We tried to show a video of the Hajajaya Walkers. Unfortunately the video player did not work, and luckily Herman Musikant had sent us enlarged photographs for everyone to see.

Shelley Sheer presented a dance number of her young pupils in Eilat.  Again, tape
recorder with the musical accompanient didn’t work!  But even with the “goblins” and without the music, the dancers gave a wonderful performance.

Colin Porter played the guitar, singing South African songs, with everyone joining in. We discovered that Dr. Meyer Wisnovitz (who came in a South African rugby jersey) is a talented guitar player, whom we enjoyed listening to.

The South African food – prepared by many of our members - consisted of chopped herring, anish herring, pickled fish which all added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Two new South Africans, who have just come on Aliyah directly to Eilat, attended the evening and were heartily welcomed – Tilly Efron and Ziona Levin.

The theme of the evening was South African with tablecloths and aprons with the
South African flag motif.

We hope to have a follow-up gathering with a barbeque in May.
