Guided tour of Netanya organised by Telfed's regional committee

For more than a year Netanya Telfed Regional Committee had been trying to set up a guided tour around new and special projects in their area.    Once City Councillor, British-born Simon Monk, became an  'honorary South African'  (now he even greets me saying 'howzit'!!) he was very happy to help us to achieve this.
He initiated the connection between Ruth Omsky (Chairman of a very active Netanya committee) and Shlomi Waroner, Director of Keren Netanya - and the project was born.

Yesterday 40 excited Netanyans took off on a two-hour trip around their city seeing things they really knew  nothing about.   First - the new stadium, due to be completed in 2011, seating 12,000 with capability to increase
to 24,000 if demanded.    Half area to be covered with a roof, with capability to close off second half in case of rain - amazing!    This stadium will be home to Maccabi Netanya and we all hope to see the likes of Elton  John performing in Netanya in the not too distant future!!!!!!!!!!!

From the stadium the tour continued on to Bet Guy - a really outstanding project for children from 0 to 3 years with various forms of birth defects - brain damage, sight, hearing, mobility etc.  This project (and many others in Netanya) was donated by Lotte & Benny Reich and named The Guy Oppenheim House.  The House was created with every possible consideration for these children and is staffed by the most wonderful and caring Director and therapists.  We were all very impressed and emotionally affected and I heartily recommend everyone to take an opportunity to visit
