Telfed awards scholarships to JCT students

Machon Lev, an institution of higher learning based in Jerusalem, who teach modern electronics and related studies, combined with religious studies, approached Telfed for assistance in funding needy students. Applications for scholarships were received from three Atuda Ethiopian students. The Telfed Scholarships Committee, headed by Adele Bassin approved all the applications, funded through the Ann Ordansky Trust.



At an impressive ceremony at the Machon Lev campus, Telfed who were represented by past chairman Itz Kalmanowitz, were warmly thanked and complimented for the excellent and dedicated work they do with olim and for the concern and help they render to students and newcomers especially in the field of education.



Itz Kalmanowitz presented awards to :



Ziggy, a young man aged 25 of Ethiopian origin, is studying Electro Optics at the Machon. Ziggy is serving in the army as an Atudai,receiving a minimum wage His parents who are unemployed, rely on funds from Bituach Leumi.



Avraham is also 25 years old and single,living in Rishon LeZion. He is studying Physics at the Machon and serving in the army Atudai. His wage from the army is minimal and his family cannot assist him.



Matan is in the IDF as an Atudai is 25 years old,marriedand living in Petach Tikvah. He is studying computer technology.His wife is working,earning a minimum wage and she is also studying.
