Telfed Modi'in Regional Committee new Olim welcome and AGM

Tefed Modi’in held a welcome ceremony and AGM on Thursday 7th October, honouring and welcoming all the new Olim who have moved to Modi’in in the last year. It was well attended by both older and new Olim, as well as Dave Bloom (Vice-Chairman of Telfed) , Teddy Saitowitz (Chairman Aliyah Projects Committee), Dorron Kline (Deputy Director) and Susan Sharon (Klita Counselor) from Telfed, and other various special guests. 13 new Olim families were welcomed. Interesting to note that of the 13 families, 3 had been blessed with babies since their arrival, and new Olah Annie Michel arrived in Modi’in the day before the AGM.

They were welcomed with our usual enthusiasm, lots of chatting, meeting people, greeting old friends and making new ones, and of course food and drinks. Speeches were made by Rebecca Johnstone, (Acting Chair person), Dave Bloom (Telfed), Renee Penn, (past Chair person) and the new Chair person, Trevor Shaff (see picture below).

The meeting included the election of a new committee. Trevor Shaff stood unopposed for the chairman. Trevor himself is relatively new to Modi’in, only here 2 years, but brings lots of experience and enthusiasm and different ideas to our community. Darren Tannenwald will be his vice Chair, and Rebecca Johnstone, Talia Shantall, Aviva Yossef, Brett and Tracy Room, Susan Shaff, Vanessa and Errol Fisher, Adi Moore, and Cheri Albucher offered and were accepted to stand on committee.

The new committee has already met and hopes to have Telfed Modi’in become a vibrant active community.

"I took on the chair of Telfed Modi’in in a time of minor crisis. Little did I know how little it took to light a bonfire. The enthusiasm of my temporary committee and the number of people who wanted to stand on committee astounded me. Be’Hatzlacha to the new committee and thank you for letting me carry on with my own little bit while being part of a growing Telfed Modi’in", said Rebecca Johnstone, as she handed over the chairmanship to Trevor Shaff.
