From our CEO’s desk

Shalom.

We are in the midst of the month of Elul – a spiritually uplifting period of forty days leading up to Yom Kippur. During this time, Moshe spent forty days on Mount Sinai, descending on Yom Kippur to our nation with the second set of the Ten Commandments. Moshe kept the new stone commandments alongside the broken set, smashed after the sin of the Golden Calf.

We, too, experience life alongside the broken.

Since 7th October, one hundred and thirty displaced South African Olim families lost their homes to Hamas and Hezbollah attacks. Ten South African Olim families lost their loved ones: seven soldiers and three civilians.

In 2024, Aliyah figures from South Africa returned close to their pre-war level. Telfed’s departments dedicated to Pre-Aliyah, Klita, Lone Soldiers, employment, scholarships, social welfare, housing, volunteerism and community awareness are functioning at total capacity for South African and Australian Olim whilst providing care, solace and support for the many wounded, displaced and mourning families. A second social worker joined our staff to assist with the need for additional counselling and guidance, with Telfed committing itself to over two million Shekels of financial aid for war relief amongst our community and beyond.

This Rosh Hashanah, we have the privilege to help the whole and the broken through our 36-hour Telfed Rosh Hashanah Campaign this Wednesday and Thursday.

Our generous donors match all donations, once for services, welfare and community support for Olim, and a second time for our war relief activities.

Every Shekel donated instantly becomes three Shekels!

Please avail yourself of this tremendous opportunity to heal the broken and ensure the continued completeness of the whole.

Our community and Israel’s society look to you and depend on your generosity.

Shana Tova.

May the New Year bring with it blessings and good news.

May our soldiers return safely and victorious from the battlefield.

May all the hostages return speedily to their families, alive and in sound health.

Please help us turn the past year’s curses into this year’s blessings.

חזקו ואמצו

Be strong and courageous.

With gratitude,

Dorron Kline
