Senior Development Writer, Jerusalem (April 2024)

Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) is on the lookout for a Senior Development Writer to join our Development Team in Jerusalem. This key role involves crafting clear and impactful communications tailored to effectively convey JNS’s mission, impact, and value to potential donors and supporters. Your work will directly support our fundraising initiatives, requiring close collaboration across teams to create compelling proposals, presentations, reports, and donor engagement materials.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you will be instrumental in developing materials that resonate with our donor base, including letters of interest, grant proposals, and impact reports. You’ll integrate JNS strategy and goals into these materials, showcasing the organization’s focus and discipline while highlighting our impact and growth to current and potential funders.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain donor-facing materials such as reports, grant requests, presentations, and case studies.
  • Continuously refine JNS’s case for giving to maintain its relevance and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with staff to target current and potential funders effectively.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and fundraising best practices to enhance content creation.
  • Manage the grant reporting schedule, ensuring all projects meet deadlines and requirements, including narrative creation from collected data.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of proven experience in proposal writing, grant writing, and creating donor materials, with a strong portfolio of successful fundraising campaigns.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Native-level English proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Creative thinking with a proven ability to produce quality content for fundraising purposes efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor motivations, and behaviors.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to convey complex information compellingly.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
  • Familiarity with the Global/American Jewish Communities is advantageous.
