Social Welfare

At Telfed, we are well-aware of the challenges of immigration. We offer guidance and assistance to families and individuals within our community who may be dealing with emotional or financial hardships.

As insurmountable as these challenges may seem in a familiar environment, they can be harder to manage in a new country, in foreign language and in an unfamiliar system and culture. With this in mind, Telfed’s inhouse social worker offers support, counselling and guidance to Olim, both new and old, at all stages of life. In addition, pre-Aliyah counselling is available through Telfed to prospective Olim allowing them to make informed decisions and advance preparations so that they land in Israel with realistic expectations.

We offer face-to-face meetings, over the phone counselling as well as occasional house visits, all free of charge. Where required, our social worker will make professional referrals, connecting you with social and professional support networks throughout Israel. We work in close collaboration with social services at a municipal level, with social workers at the Ministry of Absorption and within the army, as well as with the Jewish Agency and Bituach Leumi (National Insurance).

Our social worker, Ariela Siegel, has professional expertise in both personal finance and Social Work. In addition to counselling and advice, she also administers Telfed’s Assistance Committee which is responsible for assessing requests for financial assistance for families and individuals who are at risk or are facing difficult situations.

Requests for financial assistance are evaluated by Telfed’s Assistance Committee during monthly meetings. We are committed to a transparent process while ensuring confidentiality.
